AuTash Productions is Edmonton based. We are producers and playwrights. In Farsi, the official language of Iran, AuTash simply means “fire.” Fire, like words and ideas, can play many different roles. It can burn away stereotypes, revealing the people behind them. It can also light the way to new understanding and appreciation for a part of the world rarely seen on Alberta stages. As the playwriting team Hengameh E. Rice, we are a partnership between east and west, between Persia and Alberta, between Hengameh (this means “uproar” in Farsi), and Rice. 

We formed to bring Anahita’s Republic to Edmonton, and other projects are bubbling in the heat of the fire. We hope you’ll see more of us in the future.
